National Direct Program Consultation
The Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act requires that any applicant proposing a multi-state AmeriCorps program (referred to as a National Direct program) consult with the State Service Commissions in the states where they intend to operate an AmeriCorps program. This consultation process is a mechanism to foster partnerships that will promote the use of national service as an effective strategy to address unmet needs in communities throughout Wisconsin.
Please complete the National Direct Consultation Form. Instructions are located on the first page of the survey. Upon completing this form, you may be contacted for additional information.
Why Consult?
National Direct Consultation was established to help increase collaboration and coordination among national service programs, which in turn supports the efficient use of national service resources in the state. In addition, consultation is required in the FY24 AmeriCorps Notice of Funding Opportunity so that the Serve America Act requirement is satisfied. Submission of the National Direct Consultation Form is the action National Direct programs take to address those requirements in Wisconsin.
Serve Wisconsin will use the information acquired through the National Direct Consultation process to inform AmeriCorps on funding decisions that impact Wisconsin. AmeriCorps does this by asking each commission to provide their input on each National Direct applicant proposing to place members in the state by selecting “support”, “neutral”, or “do not support”, along with any comments associated with the opinion submitted.
